If you’re tired of the same old pancake recipe and crave something more exciting to start your day, look no further than these decadent Oreo pancakes. Made with a homemade pancake mix and crushed Oreo cookies, these pancakes are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth and adding a fun twist to your morning routine. I mean, Oreos for breakfast, what’s not to love?!

Yes, I’ve done it. I’ve added Oreos to pancakes and the combination is pretty epic.
This past week my mom was here and we were testing out pancake recipes. I have a delicious homemade dry pancake mix that has been a go-to for me ever since I ran a bed and breakfast many years ago. It’s such a great mix that can easily be manipulated to create a variety of unique pancake recipes. In the past I’ve made these funfetti pancakes, these adorable mini pancakes, and even used leftover pancakes to make this amazing blueberry almond pancake pudding.
Anyway, my mom and I experimented with a couple of recipes, and they just didn’t work out. Now, I didn’t want to give up, so I looked around my kitchen to see what else I might try and my eye noticed an almost empty Oreo package on the counter. After that, I remembered I had some whipped cream in my refrigerator. In an instant, I knew what needed to be done … Oreo Pancakes!
These pancakes were way better than I could have ever imagined. I’m not sure I want pancakes served any other way. I think you’re going to love them too.

Why You’ll Love These Pancakes
- For starters, who doesn’t love Oreos? Adding them to your pancakes takes the classic breakfast dish up a notch and adds a touch of indulgence to your morning routine.
- The sweetness of the Oreos pairs perfectly with the fluffy pancake batter, making for a heavenly combination. The Oreos slightly soften in the batter but still maintain a bit of a crunch. It’s epic!
- These pancakes are surprisingly easy to make. So, even if you’re not a confident cook, you can still impress your taste buds (and friends and family) with this delicious recipe.

How To Make
Ready to make these Oreo pancakes? I bet you are. I’ll walk you through the process. I’ve also provided a full ingredient list and detailed instructions in the printable recipe card below.
- To prepare the pancake batter, add buttermilk, milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract to a medium bowl. Whisk together to combine. Add one cup of the prepared dry pancake mix. Stir until just combined. Let the mixture sit for one to two minutes before cooking.

- Just before cooking, gently fold in the chopped Oreos.
- Set the griddle on medium-low heat. Brush with butter and allow the butter to melt.

- Pour one-fourth cup* of the batter onto the hot buttered griddle. Cook each pancake until bubbles form on the top and the bottom is golden. (This will take four to five minutes.) Flip the pancakes and cook for about two more minutes until golden.
- Serve the Oreo pancakes topped with maple syrup, whipped cream, and more roughly chopped Oreo cookies.

Serving Suggestions
Once your Oreo pancakes are cooked to your liking, it’s time to present them to your guests. Arrange them on a plate, stacking them high to showcase the layers of chocolate cookie and creamy filling that are mixed into the batter.
Before serving, consider adding a drizzle of syrup and a dollop of whipped cream to the top for an extra touch of sweetness. I also like to sprinkle mine with more chopped-up Oreos.
While the Oreo pancakes are delicious on their own, they can be elevated to new heights with the addition of some optional toppings. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- hot fudge / chocolate sauce – If you’re a chocolate lover, a drizzle of hot fudge or chocolate sauce would be perfect here.
- chocolate chips – If you can’t get enough chocolate, why not add some mini chocolate chips to your pancake batter before cooking? They’ll melt and create pockets of gooey goodness in every bite.
- caramel sauce – Drizzle some warm caramel sauce over your Oreo pancakes for a sweet and buttery contrast to the crunchy cookies.
- peanut butter – If you’re a fan of the classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate, spread a generous spoonful of creamy peanut butter on top of your pancakes for a decadent treat.
- fresh berries – Try topping your Oreo pancakes with a handful of fresh berries like strawberries or blueberries. The tartness of the fruit will help balance out the sweetness of the Oreos.
