[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I did an Instagram reel trying out this new foundation from Laura Mercier for the first time – always a bit of a risk because I’m not guaranteed to love it and just go with whatever my first thoughts are. In fact, on this occasion I did like it and my colour match sent by the brand was as good as perfect (I think maybe they have it on record somewhere – either that or the PR is a matching genius!). It’s just a fraction too light for summer months but will be that covetable perfection in winter.
The finish is more of a ‘real skin’ finish – neither matte not dewy but just as your bare skin is in real life. The product ingredient list starts with isododecane, a hydrocarbon that gives the fluid its weightless feel and improves spreadability. The brand has used a strong level of pigment so a little goes a (very) long way but coverage is excellent. It’s light to medium in weight. There is something of an ‘oily’ feel as it first goes onto the skin that takes a little while to settle – give it ten minutes or so. At that point, you will still feel a light veil but it’s minimal in comparison to some bases – it’s not as light as a tinted moisturiser but neither is it as heavy as a full foundation. I think the main point about it is that it is moisturising as well as giving colour – your skin will feel supersoft!
I was pleased with the result – my shade is Soft Sand. Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation is billed as mattifying but reading the reviews on Sephora, that isn’t proving to be its best talent. Moisturising ingredients include camelia oil and Vitamin E, a good basic that does the job.
You may be able to pick out your shade from the chart above and it’s £38 HERE. Otherwise, try to get to a store for a colour match session.
