In today’s episode of The Wit & Delight Podcast, I’m sitting down with Tara Foley, skincare expert and founder of the first clean beauty retailer, Follain. In this episode, Tara and I talk about her career background and what it took to build her business from the ground up. Since its start in 2013, Follain has grown into a thriving business with six stores across the country and a booming e-commerce presence, all with Tara at the helm.
We explore the nuances and misconceptions of “clean beauty” and why so many of us find ourselves confused and overwhelmed when it comes to making a better choice for our health. We also dive into what it means to be an entrepreneur and mother, why a business oftentimes feels like having another child, and how our own mothers influenced the paths we both took in our careers.
Listen to our conversation with Tara Foley here.
I’ve been slowly transitioning my own skincare and makeup routines this past year and have been trying to use more products that are free of parabens and other potentially harmful ingredients. It’s a work in progress, but it’s something that’s on my mind a lot these days, so I found this conversation with Tara especially intriguing.

I’m fascinated by Tara’s insight on the topic of clean beauty and her approach to building both a business and a life she’s proud of. I hope you enjoy this episode! Tara is an amazing person and I think you’ll find a lot of inspiration in her words.
